What is the world coming to? My younger punk self would never believe what a germophobe I’ve become. “Baby punk” me used to jump on mattresses in trash strewn alleyways. The punker, younger me wouldn’t bat an eye at swimming in a river, shiny with oil and carrying the waste of a city, on a cold spring day. There were a good amount of drunk nights licking – literally – bottoms of boots in stupors of stupidity. Today I’ve washed my hands ten times before 10 AM and took an unseasonably early shower after getting back from the outside world…

Not that there’s much going on out there right now.

Gigs, concerts, and fests are shutting down; cancelling one by one. Venues, promoters, and many stranded musicians are left with shuttered shows, postponed tours, and useless merchandise. The Calendar is left in neglect and disrepair because there are too many fliers with the word ‘cancelled’ on them being posted every minute to keep up. This whole ‘global threat’ thing is starting to look like a huge bummer.

But it doesn’t have to be.

As my plans for the week, the month, the summer began to crumble, I began to really miss the tediousness; the excitement; the fun of a weekend filled with gigs and friends. And when I’m not busy missing the real world, I’m busy trying to find something to do. It doesn’t take long either.
